Hello and thanks for stopping by our corner of the web world! Ocean View is a charitable organization that has been operating since the early 1960’s. We are pleased to be a trusted provider of a variety of services, predominately for seniors and others folks that need a little extra help in day to day living. Ocean View operates the very first nursing home in Nova Scotia to be granted “Accreditation” by Accreditation Canada in 1974, a standard of excellence that we still celebrate and achieve to this day.
Between in care living and community supports, we proudly serve over 500 individuals each year through our 320+ staff and 100+ volunteers. Our vision is to be the “community of choice” for Nova Scotians needing support in a place they call home.
We are committed to the highest standards of support and services and we promote a healthy workplace for staff. We foster a healthy work-life balance and use the latest best practice information at all levels.
We are proud of the development of our social enterprise model in support of our mission and our work. “Social enterprise” is a term for a business that generates profits which are reinvested back in to the community, usually into programs focused on social outcomes.
Being governed by a volunteer Board of Directors has enabled our work to be about a charitable mission and vision. We continue to evolve, as we have over the past 50 years, to embrace the need to change and respond to community needs and expectations. Change is imminent in our health and social system and Ocean View is proud to be leading the way in helping change the way we think about health and aging.
Our values include fostering Innovation, providing Comfort, promoting Autonomy, demonstrating Respect, and enabling Empowerment. We strive to live our I-CARE values in our work each and every day. These are the cornerstone of our work.
Our Long Term Care home provides individualized care in a safe environment where we are committed to the dignity of those we serve. Our team comes from a variety of disciplines including nursing, continuing care assistants, recreation programming, physio and occupational therapy, spiritual care, clinical dietetics, and social work. Personal touches and love are also extended by staff in maintenance, food services, laundry, housekeeping, and administrative support. Active volunteers complement our comfort, care, and compassion in many clinical and non-clinical areas.
Whether you are visiting our website for information on life in long term care, meaningful opportunities to volunteer, or fulfilling work opportunities, you are in the right place.
Thanks again for stopping by!
