For a Dynamic, Full Body Work Out — Just Add Water!
YMCA warm water Aqua Fit is a low impact class using exercises recommended to soothe painful joints and improve mobility. This warm water class uses full body exercises to promote muscle strength and endurance as well as joint flexibility and overall balance. This class is appropriate for participants living with rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, psoriatic arthritis or any condition that limits mobility. Classes are led by certified YMCA instructors. The Arthritis Society recommends warm water therapy for improving joint health and to help relieve arthritis pain and stiffness.
What to Expect Each class is made up of four parts which focus on improving your strength, endurance and joint flexibility:
All Warm Water Aqua Fit participants also have access to Restorative Pool Program from 6:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. This is open, unstructured pool time for those who wish to continue aquatic therapy after rehab, stretch, work on strength, or float, relax, unwind and take pressure off joints.
Class Fees:
Participants can choose when they register how many classes they want to take per week.
One class per week for 12 weeks: $120 plus HST
Two classes per week for 12 weeks: $220 plus HST
Three classes per week for 12 weeks: $320 plus HST
Four classes per week for 12 weeks: $420 plus HST
The Restorative Pool Time is included in YMCA Warm Water Aqua Fit membership. If you are not a member and you wish to purchase passes for this program, an 8 visit punch card is available for $40 plus HST.
