Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Resident and Family Experience, the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Nurse is accountable for the planning, development, implementation and coordination of the Infection Prevention and Control Program.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
  • Certification in Infection Control from a recognized program, or commitment to obtain certification within two years.
  • Recent long term care experience preferred
  • Current knowledge in concepts and trends in nursing and continuing care
  • Excellent clinical, communication, interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated advanced knowledge and clinical competence in IPAC
  • Skilled in policy development and utilizing evidenced-based practice
  • Knowledge in quality improvement initiatives, including outcome measures
  • Practical experience with accreditation
  • Experience in coaching staff and providing constructive feedback
  • Knowledge in the principles of adult education and experience in developing and presenting education sessions an asset

Hours of Work: The regular hours of work for this position are intended to be from 0800-1600, Monday through Friday.  Given the scope and responsibility of the role, there may be occasions where it may be required to stay beyond this time period.  On call availability/flexibility may also be required at times.

The successful candidate will be required to submit a criminal record check and vulnerable sector check on offer of employment.
