Job Summary: Reporting to the Director of Therapeutics the Music Facilitator is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating music programs on an individual basis and group setting.  The Music Facilitator must demonstrate an understanding of the cognitive, spiritual, physical and psycho-social benefits that music provides in maintaining and/or enhancing the quality of lift of residents. 

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary degree in Recreation/Leisure Studies or a two (2) year community college diploma in Therapeutic Recreation
  • Certificate in Music or equivalent an asset
  • Minimum of one-year combined experience in the delivery of music preferred
  • Proficiency in playing Musical instruments –piano or guitar is an asset.
  • Experience working in a health care setting, considered an asset.
  • Experience in providing leadership, developing, implementing a music program that promotes wellness
  • Must possess the following characteristics and skills: strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and empathy; effective oral and written communication skills; excellent organizations and planning skills; creative problem-solving and good assessment skills
  • Basic computer skills required

Salary Range:  In accordance with current collective agreement between Ocean View Continuing Care Centre and C.U.P.E. Local 1245

Hours of Work:  Days / Evenings / Weekends
