Job Summary:

As part of the Nursing Services portfolio, The Neighbourhood Manager (NM) reports to the Director of Care and is accountable for the organization, management and leadership of the nursing department.  The NM provides leadership and direction to ensure the practice of all staff on the neighbourhoods(s) meets the required standards, and promotes safe, competent and ethical care to all residents at Ocean View.

Qualifications:

  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nursing
  • Bachelor of Nursing Degree
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a leadership position
  • Experience in human resources and labour relations
  • Skilled in policy development and utilizing evidenced-based practice
  • Knowledge in quality improvement initiatives, including outcome measures
  • Knowledge and experience in fiscal management
  • Experience with the business planning process
  • Certified in CPR and First Aid
  • Demonstrated ability to live Ocean View’s I-CARE values
  • Experience in long term care
  • Knowledge and experience in Occupational Health and Safety, Quality Management and/or Infection Control
  • Practical experience with accreditation
  • Experience working with Alzheimer’s and related dementias
  • Experience working with Workers’ Compensation Board

Hours of Work: This is a non-union position; 80 hours bi-weekly.  The regular hours of work are intended to be from 0800-1600, Monday through Friday.  Given the scope and responsibility of the role, there may be occasions where the NM may be required to stay beyond this time period.  On call availability/flexibility may also be required at times.
