Ocean View is proud to help families care for loved ones in many ways – whether as long term care clients, through community based programs and services, or through respite care. Whether you need a break from caring for a loved one to take care of yourself, or you are planning a trip away and want to ensure your parents, aunts, uncles, etc are well looked after in a secure and friendly environment, respite care is here to help.
Respite care provides family caregivers with a planned and temporary break from their caregiving responsibilities. The break is usually scheduled, but emergency situations where the family caregiver is suddenly and temporarily unavailable may be accommodated.
Ocean View offers a place for a respite stay that includes:
You must apply to book a respite room through the Continuing Care Office by calling them at 1-800-225-7225. A Care Coordinator will assess the applicant’s care needs and eligibility. Once the applicant is confirmed eligible for the service, the Care Coordinator will arrange for a respite bed for the applicant on a first-come, first served basis. Once a client has been assessed, you are then free to make your plans for respite care throughout the year. It is strongly urged that you book in advance to ensure you are able to access your facility of preference.
