Seniors choose to join the Neighbourhood Network for many different reasons. We are proud to have built a program that offers a wealth of diverse benefits, experience and information. Here are a few of the reasons why you might join the Neighbourhood Network:
We believe in Neighbours Helping Neighbours! Those who join our Neighbourhood Network enjoy a sense of belonging and community. Ocean View has been a part of the wonderful community of Eastern Passage for more than 50 years, so we know how important connections can be. Our Neighbourhood Network aims to keep those in our community connected, while supporting our local seniors in aging safely, comfortably and more affordably in their own home.
Over 90% of our vendors are local businesses who want to give back to the communities where they live and work. Our Neighbourhood Network vendors offer discounts on services to help you, the members, live at home more affordably.
Get access and discounts to handymen, housekeepers, plumbers, electricians… our service partner list is always growing. Community volunteers are also ready to offer services such as in-home visits, holiday decorating, snow shoveling, and much more!
Do you find coordinating services and appointments time-consuming and complicated? We are here for you! Members of the Neighbourhood Network only need to know one number – 902-465-6020. Our dedicated staff will coordinate the services you need to live your best life!
Benefit from discounts on things like gym memberships, massage therapy, foot care and hearing aids.
How Neighbourhood Network services are coordinated is tailored to each member.
Do you want to give back to other members through volunteering your time and talent? Let us know!
Do you need the support of your fellow members? We have a diverse list of services fellow members, vendors and volunteers want to help you out with!
Don’t want us to coordinate services for you? You also have the option to access our list of vetted vendors online and contact them directly, knowing the discount you can expect.
Do you need a support that is not listed? Contact us and we will work to find a way for the community to meet your needs!
“I don’t have to do any of the work and get frustrated looking for service providers.
The staff do that for me.”
The Neighbourhood Network has worked hard to make sure we have partnered with the right people who believe, as we do, in Neighbours Helping Neighbours. Members have peace of mind knowing the vendors they work with are reliable, trustworthy and provide a quality service.
Staff have vetted our vendors in a variety of ways:
• We have interviewed all vendors to ensure they are committed to the safety and well-being of our members, and believe in helping to support those in their community to live at home for as long as possible.
• Any vendor providing insurable services is required to have coverage and we have copies of that insurance on file.
• Any volunteer coming into a member’s home has appropriate reference and police checks.
• Any person using a vehicle to transport a member is required to carry insurance and have regular driver abstracts provided to us.
• We have market tested the rates vendors are providing, and are confident that they are offering a significant discount to our members.
Not sure if we have the type of vendor you need? Give us a call to see! If we don’t currently have a service on our list, we will do our best to find a vendor to meet your needs.
