*updated Jan. 19* Ocean View experiencing a declared COVID-19 outbreak

During the COVID-19 pandemic, we have committed to keeping our community and stakeholders informed. To that end, we want to inform you at this time that we have received confirmation of positive cases of COVID-19 in our staff group and a number of cases of COVID-19 in residents of our facility. The next-of-kin of the impacted residents have been alerted.

At this time, Public Health has declared our facility in a COVID-19 outbreak. We are working closely with Public Health to determine best next steps and precautions to prevent spread of COVID-19. Out of an abundance of caution, we are working to support any residents and staff who were close contacts of these individuals to be tested for COVID-19.

We continue, as always, to focus on the infection prevention and control practices that have supported us throughout the pandemic. As we have been throughout the pandemic, we are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our clients, staff and community.

We wish to thank our community for their continued support at this time. We are grateful to all those who are taking the pandemic seriously and doing everything they can to prevent spread of COVID-19. We are also appreciative of our staff, who are working hard to follow all evolving infection prevention and control practices.

Designated Caregivers who chose to continue visiting the facility at this time must don full PPE immediately after screening in on arrival. PPE will be available for you in the Library, to the left of the front entry doors. Your PPE must then be removed at the end of your visit, before leaving the resident’s neighbourhood and leaving the building. Hand washing / sanitizing is critical at this time.

At this time, due to the outbreak, we will not be allowing pets into the facility. We look forward to the time when we can welcome pets once again when this period is over, as we know they add value to the lives of our residents!

How can other members of our Ocean View community help at this time? Please help stop the spread of COVID-19 within the community at-large by following all practices communicated by the province and Public Health. Keep your social circle small, follow the advice of Public Health if you have symptoms, and be vigilant about practicing physical distancing and masking. Halting the spread of COVID-19 in the community helps us keep our residents, staff and community safe!
