Job Summary:

The Community Support Manager is responsible for the leadership of innovative community projects and building capacity in the community for sustainable current and future growth and support of the social enterprise.  Accountable to the Director of Innovation and Accountability, the Community Support Manager is responsible for managing the daily operations and growth of Port City’s In-Home Support Worker program, foot care service, transportation service and J-RO EZ Rest.  The incumbent will:

  • Continuously enhance and build the products and services offered to clients and increase profits in all programs
  • Actively recruit new clients to services and community programs through promotion, networking and liaison
  • Accountable for cash management, accounts payable/receivable in collaboration with the finance department
  • Responsible for interviewing, selecting, hiring and training of staff
  • Responsible to provide direct leadership and supervision of all staff, including, but not limited to; performance appraisals, coaching, mentoring and discipline (including termination) when appropriate
  • Monitors and addresses staff attendance, including management of WCB, when necessary
  • Responsible for the development of all components necessary to safely provide high-quality in-home support services within client homes in the community
  • Manages all product orders of the J-RO EZ Rest and ensures orders are fulfilled


  • An active license to practice as an LPN in Nova Scotia
  • Training / education in leadership, long-term care, home care, etc.
  • Minimum three (3) years management experience, including supervision and management of front-line staff
  • Minimum of two (2) year experience in financial management
  • Business development and sales experience would be an asset
  • Community engagement, public speaking and marketing/promotion experience an asset
  • Able to attend work on a regular and consistent basis.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Current clean criminal record and vulnerable sector checks.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is required.

The successful candidate will be required to submit a criminal record and vulnerable sector check on offer of employment
